Thruxton

Driver coaching at Thruxton

Thruxton is the fastest circuit in the UK, with very high average speeds, an abrasive surface that is hard on tyres, bumps at high speed and big kerbs. It rewards commitment, but only when that commitment is built on accurate references and a repeatable line.

Coaching is one-to-one and the pace is built session by session. No track car? Get in contact — we can supply a track car for the day.

The corners that decide your lap

  • AllardA very fast opening right that sets the rhythm for the lap. Smooth inputs and an early view through the corner settle the car before the first heavy braking zone.
  • The ComplexCampbell, Cobb and Seagrave demand precise braking, patient rotation and disciplined placement. Rushing one element compromises the next two.
  • Noble and GoodwoodA fast linked section where vision and references matter more than extra steering input. The car must stay balanced as speed builds.
  • ChurchThe fastest corner in the UK. Commitment is built progressively from a dependable turn-in point, a clear sightline and confidence in the car's balance.
  • Brooklands and Woodham HillHigh-speed flow continues through Brooklands and up Woodham Hill. Accuracy here protects the approach to the final braking zone.
  • Club chicaneHeavy braking and big kerbs before the start-finish straight. Precise placement and a clean exit complete the lap.

What we typically work on here

Commitment and confidence at very high speed, built methodically rather than forced. Thruxton rewards calm inputs and trust in established references.

Vision through Church and Goodwood. Looking far enough ahead gives you time to place the car accurately over the bumps and maintain a stable line.

Tyre management on the abrasive surface, plus precise braking and placement into the Complex and Club chicane, where small errors cost speed through several corners.

Planning the day

Bring good tyres and check their pressures and condition between sessions because Thruxton's abrasive surface can produce significant tyre wear.

Thruxton runs a strict noise limit, so check the day's limit with the organiser before you travel. Send me the date, your experience and your goals so we can structure the coaching around short runs and debriefs. No track car? Get in contact — we can supply a track car for the day.

Common questions

Is Thruxton suitable for a first trackday?
It can be, but its very high average speed makes early instruction especially valuable. We build commitment progressively, establish clear references and never ask you to carry more speed than you are comfortable with.
How hard is Thruxton on tyres?
The abrasive surface and sustained high-speed load make Thruxton particularly demanding on tyres. Arrive with good tyres and check their pressures and condition between sessions.
Where is Thruxton?
Thruxton Circuit is in Hampshire, near Andover in the South of England.
